Bonsai Stands - C2018 Formal

 


C2018 Formal Bonsai Stands have handcrafted legs, that have 25 separate pieces, which are cut, and sanded by using 3 different type of sanders, all done by hand. The four support bars that are attached to the underside of the top and legs are very unique in that it takes many different tools to make them.
The C2018 Formal Bonsai Stand or collectible display is an excellent way frame and display your Bonsai stands or collectibles. The C2018 Formal Bonsai Stands are made from solid hardwood have a protective satin water resistant finish.

The Formal Mission Bonsai stand is my favorite stand to build. I designed this style on request from a customer in the state of Washington 20 years ago. The customer needed a stand for a Formal Upright Bonsai tree. It will also work for many other styles of Bonsai stands.

Formal Upright Bonsai Tree style:
The formal upright style is a very common form of Bonsai. This style often occurs in nature, especially when the tree is exposed to lots of light and does not face the problem of competing trees. For this style, tapering of the upright-growing trunk must be clearly visible. The trunk must therefore be thicker at the bottom and must grow increasingly thinner with the height. At about 1/4 of the total length of the trunk, branching should begin. The top of the tree should be formed by a single branch; the trunk should not span the entire height of the tree.
